One of the advantage Hedge Funds have is: they are not regulated by either SEC or other government agent. So, a lot of things Mutual Fund can't do, but they can.

Again, agree with guys upstairs. It's extremely difficult to beat S&P 500 index CONSISTENTLY. Plus, this is definitely not something you can easily break into. Without PROVED successful history record, the chance is pretty slim.

Unless you know someone in this industry, I would suggest you to start from either buy-side or sell-side position on Wall Street.
