WWIS Information Systems Director
The Greater Asia and Japan Region
Position Description
Summary
The position is the senior information systems executive for the
Greater Asia and Japan Region. In this capacity, works as a fully integrated
member of the Leadership Team to drive the development and execution of
an Information Technology (I/T) strategy that is aligned and integrated
with the worldwide Business and Function strategy, supports the
operational needs of the business, and creates maximum I/T value within the
business environment. This role is both strategic and operational in
nature.
Coordinates and directs, where appropriate, the definition,
development, and installation of information technology and systems which enable
world class business operations and ensures the delivery of accurate
information necessary for sound management and operational decision
making. Effectively partners with regional stakeholders and Information
Systems management to define and deliver process improvement initiatives.
Communicates and educates regarding the potential uses of Information
Technology and ensures that the Region has information systems
capability that positions it effectively as a high growth business.
Continuously strives to anticipate systems requirements and
infrastructure needs. Assures Information Technology is deployed appropriately to
provide a competitive advantage for the business. Educates regional
personnel on the benefits and limitations of information technology as a
critical resource.
Duties and Responsibilities
1) Is responsible for developing and implementing an IT strategy that
will link all aspects of the business through purchasing components to
customer. This will require an enterprise resource system for the
business that streamlines current information technology and creates an
infrastructure, which enables competitive advantage. It should look to
leverage existing infrastructure in establishing a best in class systems
deployment and creativity to increase revenue, decrease cost, and
improve customer satisfaction.
2) The IS Director participates in the following Regional business
processes:
· Strategy development
· Process innovation and re-design
· Change or transformation initiatives
2) The IS Director is uniquely responsible for:
· Developing a strategy for I/T which includes:
· Mission and goals for I/T deployment, consistent with the Region
· An assessment of the current environment and opportunities for IT to
add value
· A process by which the Region prioritizes its investments, linked
with the business strategy
· Ensures the KIR delivery of services through the WWIS organizational
infrastructure
· Ensures successful local project deployment of IT capabilities
through the WWIS applications delivery organization
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Substantial experience in systems development, operations, and
production support is required. Experience in business process reengineering,
or at a minimum some exposure and understanding. Track record for
delivering results from complex projects and/or managing elements of an I/S
function, preferably applications.
Bachelors or Masters degree required, with solid understanding of
general business operations and processes. Knowledge of the Region, its
geographies, its clients, and business. Must be able to influence and
lead without direct authority and drive significant business results.
Strong team building skills.
Experienced in leading and driving Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
initiatives.

Reporting
The Director, Information Systems, reports to the Chief Information
Officer for Eastman －－－－- company. The IS Director participates in both
the Regional leadership team and the WWIS leadership team.
