Finaly, my wife and I decided it is our time to go back home. She got a job in Shanghai already but I am still wondering what's the best for me back in Shanghai. Here is my background and your suggestions are much appreciated.
- Graduated from Shanghai JiaoTong University in 1994 (bachelor, Computer Science), and 1997 (Master, Computer Networking)
- Worked for 2 years in a computer system integration company (Cisco partner) in shanghai before came to US.
- Since 1999, Worked for 6 years in a IT consulting company as a network consultant, the first 3 years most of my projects are routing/switching (I am a CCIE R/S), the last 3 years most projects are IP telephony. I chosed to become a consultant because other than technical skills, commnunication and project management skill are also very important to a consultant so I can improve these two areas too.
- U.S. Permenant Resident
Just like every other experienced IT consultant, after 6 year of working for the company, I thought about being independant consultant too. However my limited research shows independant consultants are very rare in China.
I always think IP telephony will be the next gold mine in China, starting my own business using my expertise in IP telephony is another thought.
However if a right job opportunity pops up I guess I won't pass either.
Any suggestions?
