本人只侃纽约的投行情况，对别的地方不太了解。
1。原文作者没有说清楚一些基本概念。
投行的人，一年的总收入叫Total Compensation，简称Total Comp，它是税前的。它包括Base Salary plus bonus. Base Salary，简称Base，就是基本工资，bonus就是年终奖金，大多数情况是Cash, 也有的是combination of Cash and stock, for executives, it could get stock options too.
2。原文作者是用香港的数字来推测纽约的行情，不太准确。
原文作者说"根据香港去年政府公布的数字，有1200人年纳税超过100万"，本人对香港不熟，但因为那是纳税，估计是Total Compensation，因为Bonus （stock options 除外）也是要交税的。
这位老兄凭想象“差别都应该在10倍以内（其实应该在4倍左右）“，于是得出非常荒谬的结论"在纽约金融行业中估计年薪在7位数以上的不超过1000人是有理据的"。
当然除了税务局（IRS）, 没人可以得到准确的数字。但是我们只要看Goldman Sachs就知道那数字远高于1000人。Goldman Sachs has about 20,000 employees, out of which, only very small portion are investment bankers. It paid out about $11 billion bonus last year. Average bonus is half million US＄ per head． I have to say sorry for that guy who missed the shot big time. 3。我所了解的情况
Here is what I know about Wall Street. For majority of people working in Wall Street firms, the base salary is between $100-200k. It is structured this way so the firms don't have to go broke during bad years, such as 2001-2003. In the rainy days, the survivors can at least maintain a decent life, though not luxury. In good years, the firms rake in huge profit and people bring home big bonuses.
There are not many Chinese in the business side of Wall Street. There are many reasons. I am sorry I have to skip the topic.
