I didn't know they had such a parade a while ago, otherwise I would donate my skirts (too slim for them though). 
I live close to the Guggenheim Museum, there are parades on the Fifth Ave all the time (normally starting from or ending at the Guggenheim). Next time I will take some pictures and share with you guys and gals.
Guggenheim had an art exhibition "Russia!" last year. I was thrilled when I saw the famous oil painting "Barge Haulers on the Volga" by Repin there, I learned about the paining from some Chinese textbook when I was a kid. I felt like seeing a friend from my childhood.
I told an American colleage how excited I was about the painting, he searched the internet to see what kind of painting it was, and told me he had a hard time understanding why a girl like me was impressed by such a paiting. He said he would appreciate more if I said I how much I loved Monet's paintings (which I love too but not for sentimental reasons). While, that was an example of culture difference, after all, we grew up in different enviroments.
