before on made such bold statement, one needs to learn carefully the history.

France only represents the Latin branch of the western civilization. Their ancestors, Gauls, barbarians under Roman rules, just had to be Romanized under sword. Read the book from Julius Caesar, then you know it.

France invented dirgiste system, administrative system, started the revolution and produced a generation of famous philosophers, writers,..

but it never established a stable republic (6 republics over 200 years), with weak tradition on parliamentary democracy, and lagged way behind Britain and America in terms of the capital market development. In Europe, it was well-known for its agricultural produces, but not manufacturing might in comparison with Germany.

Since the middle of 19th century, it is a country on a constant relative decline. 西方文明的祖师爷, hehe, too much exxaggeration.

I know some of you will challenge me: the French created wine and is famous for their cuisine. Okay, let me give you the following facts: wine was invented by Romans. Romans conquered Gaul (today's France) and taught Gauls, the barbarians to cultivate grape. Second: the Medici family in Italy introduced fork into the royal court of France after the marriage between Madame Medici and Francis II.... before that, those "elegant" Frenchmen ate with hand...

I am a lover of French arts, culture, but I never overstate facts with blind passion.
