If you look at the film industry, there are many 'make you feel good' movies produced each year but tragedies are few and far between, although they almost always turn out to be really good ones - Titanic, Chinatown, Million Dollar Baby, Schindler's List, Passion of the Christ, Leaving Las Vegas to name a few. I think we the audience are partially to blame here - average Joe like myself goes to movies theatres to get entertained, not to be educated. So movie producers are very cautious when dealing with a 'serious and heavy' script.
