STAFF: RMB 50K annual salary x 20 person = 1 millon RMB
SHOWROOM: 1000 sqr meter x 8 RMB/day x 365 = 3 million RMB
INVENTORY: no inventory, customers prepay 20% for the cars they want to buy, sometime they get to wait for more than 3 months.
That is their no-cost loan.
INSURANCE: can not more than 1 million a year.
TAX: 30%
So, their cost is only about 5 million RMB, even though you double their cost, tha is only 10 million RMB, way way less than 40 million RMB.
So, if they pocket 20K RMB (US$ 4k) margin for each car, they only need to sell 50 cars a year to break even. That means they only need to sell one car a week. Is that a beautiful life or what?
Do you know how many people on waiting list for the BMW 5 Series manufactured in Shenyang? The first week after they release the news, 800 people registered on their waiting list.
What I heard is they sell 5 to 10 cars a day on average.
