Most fundamental changes happened in the history followed the pattern of root-up. I believe the next case will be the China’s economy. Western worlds are entertaining themselves by talking about the corrupt political system, inefficient banking system and cheap labor of China. They just do not want to face a truth: Chinese have far stronger passion and internal driven than them for developing material life. China would like to take over all the labor work of this world and in the meantime do not mind letting advanced countries enjoy the results at first. Yesterday, western world was better in both hands-on experiences and theories, today, they stopping making but still have better insights of how to make, tomorrow. I doubt they only can make sour comments like “Pele’s comments on world cup”.
China’s reform was far from perfect. However, Communist party avoided most fatal mistakes with self discipline. By which we keep the choice to correct any tactical mistakes when we really grow up.
Take the disparity for example. Yes, current pictures are terrible. But as a businessman, I do not worry about too much on those temporary index, such as monthly income, or medical insurance. I look at the bargain power in the future. The chance is:
In China, now, nobody legally owns any significant amount, by whatever metric, public resources, such as land, mine, natural monopoly industry.
Land and natural resources are state owned. Yes, many businessmen and government official made lucrative money by manipulating them. But they can not own them. Public can relocate them at least 70 years later. Most large scale state owned enterprises were listed. Yes, most cases that process did not improve the bottom line business from profitability perspective. However, it killed, forever, the possibility of a few powerful guys grabbing those strategically critical assets.
Look at Russia, Africa and South America, this is not a simple task. I am really concerned them in terms of disparity. When the productive assets already legally concentrated into the hands of a few people, how can a society really eliminate the disparity by building some transparent, independent and equal jurisdiction system.
There are many stupid mistakes Chinese made even in the system design level, such as equity market. But considering the business qualifications of our leaders in 1980’s, it would surprise us more if they do not screwed up things. It is until after I come to US I started to admire last generation of Chinese leaders. They maybe did not know how to do things right, but they really know how to avoid the worse scenario happening. All the problems our parents left are correctable because they kept most important cards under the table for us. Why complaining about China’s problems, think it is our time to show..
