i wouldn't think that would be a good solution to this problem. if i was a trouble maker, i would have still done something like that after probation period. it doesnt solve the problem, just delays the occurence. also, it assumes that every newcomer is trouble maker regardless they are yes or not, it is quite unfair for the most of people though.
i think we would do something as following:
1.the rule based monitoring system should be implemented. any post should go though a pipeline that consists of different rules. such as frequency checking from particular person etc. if any unusual behavior occurs,for example 10 in less than 1 minute or so( we could set up reasonable rules), then the post is going to be moved to a temporary table(i am assuming that the posts are dumped in the database). basically if anything doesnt comply with the rules, it would be put in quarantine for further review.
2.pattern matching scan should be implemented when any post is dumped to db. the machine learning could be implemented to detect any suspicious post, the algorithm could be progressively improved upon time. for example, pattern would be like profanity,hostile attack etc.
certainly any unfriendly post shouldnt be displayed, but i would be very disappointed see any unnecessary sensorship is introduced to this community as well, we have to find right balance. the free speech is definitely encouraged, but it shouldnt come with compromising other's interests. everyone should behave the way they are supposed to, if not the system should react upon it.
