People want to get attention, recognition, and endorsement one way or the other at the work or at home. There are many ways to achieve such a satisfaction. Showing name-brands to the public is one way for some people. In my view, it could be just an attitude or a life style when it comes to upper-class.
How do you explain the amount of money the Chinese people spending on the interior design? In USA, most middle class Americans don't spend much money for interior improvement besides the paint on the walls. But, they do spend a lot of money on furniture.
An interesting observation: If you had a party with American friends, none of them would come into your bedrooms for sure. But.. most of Chinese friends in a party would not only visit your bedrooms, but also your bathrooms Any demand (interest) comes with supply (to meet the interest).
