when lawyer on one side present a legal postion, that side must clarify on what ground the claim is based upon, if they don't, the other side will challenge them by demanding so
therefore there is nothing to be embarrased about, if someone threats you with law and you ask them to produce the specific reference on the law they are mentioning. if does not mean you do not know any thing, on the contrary, it means you do know that whatever they claim, they need to come up with with the specifics and then you will do your home work before you respond with a formal position
