To me, that management consultant job is transitional if it provides exposure and linkages to the industry you want to get in next step. Otherwise, it is a pain for me to work in China to cope with the extremely long working hours...actually, it will be a torture when your friends all have time to social together while you still need to work over the weekends... I can not manage that part.
That pharma job looks more interesting to me. It gives you options and you have time to think about how you want to exercise it. I like options... If you don't mind traveling, and if you like some aspect of life here in the US and would like to keep it, working in a Asia focused marketing might be interesting if it lets you travels back and forth... I am personally doing it quite a bit and I enjoy it a lot. It gave me the opportunity to look at lives at both end with different angles.
