Less and less financial institutes or consulting firms are willing to offer fat expat packages. My take on this is to join a US company in the US who has growth focus in China, and work on an investment project at its early stage and ride with it to China till the time comes. Preferrably with a company that does not have fully fledged organization in China with plenty of local alternatives on staffing. Industry wise, manufacturing still provides more opportunities, a $10 Mio level manufacturing investment could easily justify 2-3 USD400K/a expats packages and still keep SG&A within 5% of sales which is a lot lower than what could've been in EU or NA...
